Personal & Interpersonal Skills FETAC Level 4 - Module Code G10032
Programme Aim
This module offers the learner opportunities to explore a range of social issues, to reflect on the nature of interpersonal relationships and to gain an understanding of the personal and social factors which influence their own lives. The diversity of content explored as part of this module encourages the learner to reflect on their own attitudes and lives, and promotes skills and understanding which are useful for dealing with a variety of situations in the home, the workplace and society.
Learners who successfully complete this module will:
- Acquire knowledge and understanding of a range of social issues which encourage them to develop broad and balanced views
- Reflect on their own life experience in a variety of situations
- Explore their attitudes to personal rights and responsibilities in a range of areas
- Enhance self awareness, self esteem and assertiveness
Training Content - The specific learning outcomes are grouped into 3 units.
Unit 1 - Contemporary Social Issues
Unit 2 - Personal Growth through Reflection
Unit 3 - Assertiveness
Method of Assessment (Portfollio 100%)
Portfolios must contain the following:
- Reflective journal 10%
- Assignments x 3. Each assignment carries 30% of the overall portfolio marks. Detailed briefs and guidance for these assignments will be given to each learner.
Preferred Entry Level
A learner seeking entry to this course at Level 4 does not need a previous formal qualification. Relevant work and life experience is required. Learners will need to work both independently and part of a team.
All resources are provided as part of the programme and learners will receive supports and guidance from their tutors.
Programme Duration
The course is part-time. It will run 6 hours per week over 5 weeks. Learners need to complete some work and research outside of course hours. Usually this programme requires 6 hours maximum of personal work outside the course time.
