Marketing Practice FETAC Level 5 - Module Code B20017

Programme Aim

Marketing is now something to which we are exposed to on a daily basis and must be aware of on a professional basis in order to ensure that organisations and staff are effectively enhancing the customers experience. The module enables learners to apply both principals and practice of marketing.

Learners who successfully complete this module will:

  • be familiar with the principles and practices of marketing
  • be able to work effectively as a marketing assistant
  • understand the functions of a marketing department
  • understand the role of marketing in everyday life.

Training Content - The specific learning outcomes are grouped into 5 units.

Unit 1 - The Marketing Environment
Unit 2 - Product
Unit 3 - Price
Unit 4 - Promotion
Unit 5 - Place

Method of Assessment

Assignments x 2 Students will be required to complete two assignments, each are worth 30% of the overall portfolio. These assignments require the student to apply theory to a range of current marketing approaches by well know industry sectors. Detailed assignment briefs will be given by the course tutor with specific guidelines for each learner to follow.

Examination - Students will complete an examination which accounts for 40% of the final portfolio.

Preferred Entry Level

A learner seeking entry to this course at Level 5 does not need a previous formal qualification. Some learners may have achieved certification at Level 4 e.g. leaving certificate or FETAC Level 4 certificate. Learners at Level 5 will need to be proficient at reading, drafting, preparing and understanding information. This module will include individual and team working activities. All resources are provided as part of the programme and learners will receive supports and guidance from their tutors.

Programme Duration

The course is part-time. It will run 6 hours per week over 5 weeks. Learners need to be able to complete some work and research outside of course hours. Usually this programme requires 10 hours maximum of personal work outside the course time.
